"South Bend Outreach" Part 1

Top picture - We set up for at The Crossing/South Bend and the people came out. This area has a huge homeless population! We had prostitutes, pimps, drug addicts, gang-bangers, and just a mass of hurting people. We went through 50 lbs. of grilled chicken, 96 polish sausages, 70 hotdogs, 20 lbs. of macaroni & cheese, 5 loaves of bread for grilled cheese, chips, 7 cases of pop and 4 cases of water. As I said, the people came and they were hungry. We had a huge team today with most of them being from The Crossing Alternative School, starting with the leader Rob Staly and a number of teachers; Dave Andreson (Elkhart), Chris Russell (Middlebury), Kelly Belgarde (Elkhart), Jared Marcus (South Bend), and Carrie Miller (Goshen). I got a chance to minister to three homeless men here. Michael who you can just partially see is a born again believer that ministers on the streets even though he is homeless.

Eileen and Kim minister to Ranee (with her back to the camera) who is a prostitute and appears to have an addiction. She was really hurting bad. I had a short conversation with her later and said that she couldn't talk about Jesus now because she has some selfish habits that she is not willing to give up right now. As usual we will continue to build a relationship with her.

Eileen ministers to Michele who is also a prostitute. She does not appear to be in very good shape. She told Eileen that she has 4 kids. We ran across her on the streets last night and invited her to come today.

Eileen and I talk to Mike who is the pimp for Michele and Ranee. They wait by his Cadillac across the street. Rob is also headed our way to talk to Mike. I told Mike that I would like to take him to lunch and he said why? I told him that it is not ok with me for anyone to go to HELL!! He tried to justify what he was doing and I told him that he is in ETERNAL TROUBLE and we need to get together. He said that he had to go and departed. I told him that I would talk to him again soon.
