ELKHART -- Senseless violence does not have to happen, and more than 250 people came together Saturday morning to spread this message to their brothers and sisters in north central Indiana.
Aaliyah Joiner, 11, was accidently shot to death by her cousin on Dec. 4, 2006, and her memory and a new foundation in her honor brought together fellow students at Hawthorne Elementary for an anti-gun violence rally called "Never Forget!" They marched from the school to Tolson Center in Elkhart along with teachers, parents and concerned citizens.
Sister Leigh with one of the little guys. Leigh spent alot of time with him talking to him about knowing Jesus and knowing that he is saved.
The team serves the people.
We had many little kids out there yesterday. We must get God's Word into them. This is the only real hope for them. We encouraged many of the adults to get out on the streets where the problem spots are and to minister the Word to the people.
Next week we will be at the corner of Broadway and Empire in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This is always an awesome outreach and our first one for this spring. We will follow that outreach with a team gathering at Silver Beach in St. Joseph.
