Sunday Experience in Michigan

Today Eileen and I drove to our good friend and "Michigan Pastor's" church in St. Joseph, Michigan. (Assembly of God Global Outreach Center) Pastor Dan Miller's church is always a blessing! They preach the uncompromised Word of God and are also very active in getting outside the walls of the church. They also have an awesome praise & worship leader, band and choir.
We are in the process of developing a partnership with them and we will be working with the staff and the kids of the "Master's Commission" that will be coming in at the end of September. We look forward to going into Benton Harbor with them and winning the area for JESUS!!!
After church we grabbed a bite to eat then headed for Benton Harbor to scout out a new area that we had heard about. This area is said to have the highest crime rate and it sounds like a good place for us to set up at next week. While trying to find this area many of the churches were letting out and we stopped to ask for directions and information about the area. There are many churches in Benton Harbor and we were really trying to develop some relationships. We were amazed at how many "church people" snubbed us. We were in our ministry van and we figured that they would see that we are on their side and also would maybe want to talk to us about winning the area for Jesus.
I believe that many "church people" do not really care what is going on in their area unless it effects them. They have their "Sunday best" clothes on and are driving their big cars while people are hungry, crime is running rampid, gangs are trying to take over, and most of all, people are on their way to hell!! We have had churches ask us not to set up in their area because they sell food to the people and we would effect their business. We will never take a dime for anything that we take to the people. We tell them when they ask how much (I guess because they are use to "church people selling the food), we say "JESUS ALREADY PAID THE PRICE AND THIS MEAL IS ON HIM"!!!!! I am sure that there are good churches in the area and that we probably just hit 3 or 4 in a row that were more excited about getting to the fried chicken and mashed potatoes than talking to some evangelists from out of state about JESUS.
We did meet many kind people outside in their yards that were very helpful to us and excited about us bringing Jesus into the neighborhood. We blessed them with chocolate chip cookies and other snacks and they were very thankful. Maybe we messed up by not offering the snacks to the "church people"?????????? Anyway, we told them to spread the word that we will be there to bless them with a good meal next Saturday!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!
