Real JESUS or "Touchdown Jesus"????

I do not watch much television at all but tonight I was rolling some coins from our recent garage sale and was waiting for the news to come on. I caught the last 10 minutes of a show and what I found was totally disgusting. I can't remember the name of the show but it was one of those police mystery types that ended with two women kissing each other on the lips. The show also had alot of profanity and I only watched the last 5 minutes.
The news wasn't much better either, it started out showing people that traveled miles with their children to see media day for Notre Dame and a chance to see "Touchdown Jesus" and the coaches and players of Notre Dame. It is amazing to see how people make idols out of different things whether it be sports teams, automobiles, boats or whatever. If people got as excited about the real Jesus as they do "touchdown Jesus" what a different area we would live in. I can not see all the hype about Notre Dame and how it is this nice "religious college" which that it probably really is. (That's the problem) It has it's gay and lesbian clubs just like many other colleges. The students and facility there should be more concerned about leading these people to the real Jesus so they don't burn in hell than getting excited about "touchdown Jesus". Doesn't the 2nd commandment talk about making idols anyway????
I know that some will think that I am being too harsh on the old Irish but I think it is time for people to wake up!! Many in this world are on their way straight to hell and don't have a clue. I am so glad that Eileen and I are "really saved" and living our lives for Jesus!! I am not saying that everyone who goes to a football game is going to hell but we should all look at who or what we are really putting first place in our lives. Praise the Lord for all of you that put the Jesus that died on the cross for us first place in your life.

Good word Terry!! ..amen
An idol can be anything that comes before Almighty God. Anything that is more important to a person or cherished more than God is an idol.

Your right... In America, people are devoted to possessions, pleasures, and the pursuit of happiness. Television, computers, the Internet, money, sex, self, prosperity, fame, sports, their job, car, house, addictions, (just to name a few.)These things often come before God. Unsaved friends or relatives often come before God. Warnings from the pulpit about the dangers of listening to and following the counsel of the ungodly are seldom given and when they are given, they are seldom heeded. Many verses are either ignored or not understood in this lukewarm generation.

Scriptures that tell a person to deny himself and follow Jesus (Lk 9:23) are seldom heard in the churches anymore.Yet these verses shall judge each of us.

God is a jealous God. There is to be nothing that comes before HIM and obeying HIS WORD.

Let us each examine ourselves by God’s Word. Let us repent, and love and obey the Lord in all things. For in Him and Him only, there is LIFE.
