Tuesday Night Streets????

I just got in from an awesome time on the streets. I was really feeling led to go out with all the trouble we have had in the last two nights. We have had 1 murder (by shooting), another person shot, and two people stabbed. I wasn't sure what to expect as I set out.
I iced down 3 cases of pop, got some candy for the kids, and also had Panera Bread to pass out. I was prayed up and ready to roll so as I entered the Washington Garden projects I stopped by the first group of people I came to. It was the site of last nights stabbing. I was asking some people that I knew about what has been happening when other people started asking me if I would pray with them before I left. I prayed for a variety of things:
  • a husband's heart problems
  • kids emotional problems
  • finances to be able to move from the area
  • protection over them and their families - one mother told me about the shooting starting and how she covered her 2 year old with her body to keep her safe.
  • money for food
  • family in prison

We only had one situation arise and that was when 2 gang banger types were using foul language too close to my pulpit. The Lord told me in the past that wherever I set my feet was my pulpit and that I would have dominion over the area. He said it and I choose to walk in it!! I excused myself from the people I was talking to and went over and told them what the Lord had told me in the past, they apologized and chose to move down the block. It is awesome how the Lord works in this type of situation. It is not about me at all, it is all about walking in HIS authority!! They came back later and were respectful to me and asked for another pop. It is also awesome what a 10 cent can of pop will do.

Tonight showed me that it is good to go out after something big has happened because the people are more apt to listen and more concerned about their lives. The people are excited about this weekends BBQ and one lady is excited about getting Eileen to help her learn how to read the Bible. If you are interested in coming out let us know!!
